Job description

A postal round that you manage yourself from A to Z, close to you. A job in which you work both independently and as part of a team. How exactly does that work?
This is what the job of postman looks like:

  • Each working day starts in the sorting centre where you sort and prepare the incoming letters and parcels for distribution. You then structure your own mail.

  • Once your mail has been sorted, you go on round: on foot, by (electric) bike, e-trailer or by (electric) car.

  • At start-up, you get to know several rounds, but after a while you are assigned your own round. Nevertheless, from time to time you keep jumping in on other rounds that you also know well.

  • You then quickly get to know the neighbourhood and your customers. Count on many looking forward to your arrival.

  • There is a lot to learn and you will be given every opportunity to do so. You can count on a personal coach to take you in tow.

Your profile

You are someone who likes to get outside. Sitting between four walls all day? Nothing for you. You prefer some action, preferably with a tailwind. That feeling of freedom, that's what you do it for. What is important for the job of postman?

  • Having a chat, raising your hand, that's who you are. That's why customers like to see you

  • Getting consignments to their destination on time is your biggest priority

  • Starting early and stopping early suits your lifestyle perfectly. The start of your working day varies between 4 a.m. and 7.45 a.m

  • You have a (manual) European driving licence B in your pocket

  • Your knowledge of Dutch is good enough to understand customers and answer their questions

  • It is feasible for you to work at different locations. Think of situations where you replace a colleague who is on leave, for example

  • You also enjoy being on post on Saturdays: this gives you extra free time during the week

Company information

Can you see yourself driving the recognisable red and white van? Or one of the other recognisable means of transport? If you work for bpost, then you work for the largest postal company in Belgium. But in practice, you feel at home in the mail centre in your neighbourhood. A nice team, a permanent team leader as your daily contact and an employer who helps you grow and develop: that is where you will end up.
