Job description

As a sizer and metalworker with our customer, your job is to straighten parts by putting them under stress (vice) and hitting them with a hammer, so as to realign them on an acceptable axis.

You will need to be able to demonstrate precision and attention to detail.

You will also be required to:

  • Clean and position the metal parts in order to calibrate them

  • Adjust the parts according to the dimensions on the drawing

  • Dimension and align parts

  • Measure the essential points of the part

  • Use a calliper / protractor





Your profile

As a calibrator you must:


  • Have a good knowledge of mechanical assembly (use of mallet / hammer / retouching tools / use of presses)

  • Good knowledge of simple metrology (basic)

  • Ideally be able to read a 2D drawing (optional, a plus)



You can't learn to be a calibrator at school.
However, there are jobs in which you will find some of the skills you need to be an excellent calibrator.

The important thing is that you know how to hammer accurately and have enough expertise to assess your work.

If you're good with your hands and you're not afraid of handling hammers, spanners and tools that are sometimes much larger than the standard size, then maybe this job is for you?

You'll also have to be prepared to work in a metalworking environment that's dusty, dirty and rough! But, of course, with good-humoured colleagues who are always ready to take newcomers under their wings.
