Bricklayer / Mason

As a bricklayer, you carry out masonry and supporting work on the construction site every day.Laying bricks, such as quick-build blocks, facade masonry or gluing blocks.Installing insulation and checking the masonry during execution.Placing profiles and carrying out minor demolition work where necessary.Working with a spirit level or laser to check measurements and alignment. 

For the job as a bricklayer, your day will look like this and you will be responsible together with the team for these tasks:Performing masonry work on new construction and renovation projects (houses and apartments)Laying foundations, sewer pipes, and pouring floor slabsBricklaying interior and exterior walls with various types of stones and techniquesCarrying out joint and small formwork worksSetting up profiles, assembling scaffolding, and properly bracing 

As a rough construction worker in the Ghent region, you contribute to setting up the construction site and the rough construction of the project.You set up the construction site according to the plan.You carry out excavation work for the construction of foundations.You install formwork.You install utility services.You carry out concrete work.You carry out masonry work.You erect scaffolding and dismantle it again. 

Structural construction worker

Formwork work for, among others, schools, residential care centers, public buildings, but also bridges, tunnels...You read plans and working drawings;You coordinate the work of your teamWith wooden planks and panels you make molds;You carpenter and assemble the formwork and join it together;You pour the concrete into the formwork;When the concrete has hardened into a building element, you remove the formwork;You reinforce concrete with iron reinforcement or rebar, for this you cut, bend and connect your metal bars;For large concrete structures there are prefabricated metal formwork elements, which you assemble together. 

Formwork Carpenter

As a formworker, you carry out concrete and formwork work on the construction site every day.You pour concrete for walls, beams and floor slabs and help with the placement of prefab elements.You create traditional formwork and system formwork with Peri and Doka.You contribute to exposed concrete and follow reinforcement and formwork plans in the execution of the works.Together with your colleagues, you safeguard safety on the construction site, keep the workplace tidy and deliver neat work.

Your challenges as a formworker:Concrete pouring and placement of prefab:Co-responsible for pouring concrete for walls, beams, and floor slabs in buildingsPlacement of prefab elements is part of your tasksExecution of formwork:Creating both traditional and system formworks (Peri, Doka)Working with exposed concrete is partially involvedBecome an expert in reinforcement and formwork plansPrioritize safety:Together with your colleagues, ensure a safe working environmentPreventing workplace accidents is your priorityFocus on quality and order:Maintaining a clean and organized workspaceDelivering high-quality work we can rely on without question 

Preparing and assembling molds (forms)Working with loose panels and building blocksParticipating in the production and finishing of concrete elementsPlacing formwork panels, reinforcement, and other components in the correct positionAssisting with the pouring of concreteChecking measurements and precise finishingWorking accurately according to technical plans and safety regulations 

Concrete Production Operator

As a formwork worker, you carry out formwork activities as the basis for concrete structures.You install formwork for a solid foundation.You work with wooden formwork and system formwork and make these to measure.You place prefabricated elements in the correct position.You pour concrete after the formwork and subsequently remove the formwork.You provide support on the construction site with waste management, pipework, earthworks and assembling load-bearing structures, and you keep the workplace tidy and safe. 

Performs formwork activities independently or together with colleagues.Reads and follows formwork plans.Helps prepare reinforcement, tying work, the pouring of concrete and stripping the formwork.Ensures order and cleanliness on the construction site and pays attention to the quality of their own work.Works with traditional and system formwork. 

As a formwork carpenter, you will work on very large projects. In the morning, you will be picked up by your colleague to drive to the construction site together.Your role includes:Formwork for, among other things, schools, residential care centres, public buildings, but also bridges, tunnels...You read plans and working drawings;You coordinate the work of your teamYou make moulds with wooden planks and panels;You build and assemble the formwork and join it together;You pour the concrete into the formwork;When the concrete has hardened into a building element, you remove the formwork;You reinforce concrete with iron mesh or reinforcement, for this you cut, bend and connect metal bars;For large concrete structures, there are prefabricated metal formwork elements, which you assemble together. 

Forming, pouring and stripping concrete workpieces (such as walls and floors)Correctly placing reinforcement according to the plan, depending on the applicationManufacturing, assembling and fastening prefabricated elements (e.g. beams, thresholds, panels)Installing pipes, drainpipes and connections in the concrete elementsYou work in the workshop in a daytime schedule from 7:45 to 16:15.
