Job description

A mail delivery route that you manage from start to finish, close to your home. A job where you work both independently and as part of a team. How does that work exactly?
Here's what the job of a postal worker looks like:

  • Every working day starts with sorting incoming letters and packages and preparing them for distribution. Subsequently, you organize your own mail.

  • Once your mail is sorted, you go out on delivery: on foot, with a (electric) bicycle, e-trailer, or with a (electric) car.

  • At the beginning, you will learn about different routes, but after a while, you will be assigned your own route. Nevertheless, you will occasionally step in on other routes that you are also familiar with.

  • You will quickly get to know the neighborhood and your customers. You can be sure that many look forward to your arrival.

  • There is a lot to learn and you will have the space to do so. You can count on a personal coach to guide you.

Your profile

You're someone who enjoys being outdoors. Sitting all day within four walls? Not for you. You prefer some action, preferably with the wind at your back. That feeling of freedom, that's what you do it for. What's important for the job of a postal worker?

  • Striking up a conversation, waving hello, that's just who you are. That's why customers like to see you coming

  • Getting the deliveries to their destination on time is your top priority

  • Starting early and finishing early fits perfectly with your lifestyle. Your workday starts between 4 a.m. and 7:45 a.m.

  • You have a (manual) European driving license B

  • Your knowledge of Dutch is sufficient to understand the customers and answer their questions

  • It's feasible for you to work at different locations. Think of situations where you replace a colleague who is on leave, for example

  • You also like to be on duty on Saturdays: it gives you extra free time during the week

Company information

Can you already see yourself driving the recognizable red and white delivery van? Or one of the other recognizable means of transport? If you work for bpost, you work for the largest postal company in Belgium. But in practice, you'll feel right at home in the mail center in your neighborhood. A nice team, a permanent team leader as a daily point of contact, and an employer who helps you grow and develop: that's where you'll end up.
