Remembrance Day at 11 November (also known as Poppy Day owing to the tradition of wearing a remembrance poppy) is a memorial day in many countries since the end of the First World War in 1918 to honor armed forces members who have died in the line of duty.

08-12-2023Red poppies were among the first to flower in the battlefields of northern France and Belgium after the conflict ended. Today, Remembrance Day poppies are worn – on the left lapel – in memory of those who served and made the ultimate sacrifice.
The Polish (Independence Day) and Romanian national holiday, on November 11, are related to the end of the First World War.
In Belgium, France and Serbia, Armistice Day is a national holiday.
In Belgium, every year on this day since 1922, the armistice ceremony has been held at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in the presence of the King. In Ieper you can visit cemetery and museum dedicated to the study of the First World War.
